First in the deserted clubhouse, Roger begins by trying to get the time right ...
... before going to inspect the pitch ..
... leaving Miriam to look to matters more domestic ...
... and share his concern over Alex's unreliabiity
... and her own finding of cups without letting him know
Bob is next to arrive, going straight on the 'phone ...
... to receive an earful from his ex- when he tells her he's playing cricket today
Roger can't understand why Miriam has to go to the shops ... .. and she has to find his car keys without doing too much harm |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Whilst persuading Bob to go in at no. 3, Roger manages to bum a fag off him ... as he's given up himself ...
... and when Bob tries on the excuse about his wife being ill, Roger points out the recuperative qualities of the taking the sun - at the cricket match, naturally. But when Dennis arrives, he's hoping for a game, which brings Roger back up to strength ... |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
... although he still has the task of persuading him to bat at no. 3
"Not like you to let the side down, Bob" remarks Dennis, somewhat ironically
"You leave your wife to me - I'll soon straighten her out" "Actually, I really think I've re-discovered my form" |
