"Hallo, hallo", says Dennis, who's not met Kevin's partner Maggie before, but who knows what he likes
"I just give up", moans Kevin, who finds her less than understanding of his interests.
Maggie may be blissfully ignorant of the finer - or any - points of cricket, but, if Dennis is going to the shops, well he can certainly bring her a bottle of vino.
As far as Kevin is concerned, Maggie's lack of appreciation of his cooking efforts leads him to threaten never to talk to her again ...
... but her inclination for a little slap and tickle causes him to point out his total distaste for violence ...
... which viewpoint encourages her to remark to Roger, "oh, don't you just love 'im"
Shortly after which she meets Miriam for the first time, and extends to her the vice-like grip of her friendly handshake ...
... although her passing on the information that Ginnie's just rung to say Bob's gone off without his cricket bag, is even less welcome
On his return, Dennis's attempts to show Miriam how taken he is with her provoke the response, "but I'm a married woman !"
And there's still the awkward situation created by Bob and his bag, to be sorted out
But at least she can head off any trouble from the Dennis quarter by issuing the warning - "not a word to Roger about this"
Maggie's woes extend, by contrast, to having run out of sharp sand when doing a little concreting that morning
Not too sure how to respond to this, Miriam acknowledges that she and Roger have a super garden, too
Maggie's shortage of sharp sand is hardly uppermost in Kevin's mind having just done his spinning finger a nasty injury ....

... and whilst Maggie is sympathetic enough, Dennis is less so, despite Kevin's insistence to "go on - look at that. It's beginning to throb"
Roger wants Miriam to go to their car and bring back some elastoplast "chop, chop" - a turn of phrase to which Miriam objects, and not for the first time ...
... which reluctance prompts Kevin to urge Miriam to "go on - feel it !"
