National Tree Week - planting ceremony
Wednesday, 21st November, 2007
25 young artists from Wrington School joined representatives from the local community at a tree planting ceremony in Goblin Combe to celebrate National Tree Week.

Wrington-based environmental consultants, Sustain, organised the day to mark their own 10th anniversary.

Local resident, Andy Tandy, is Development Manager at Goblin Combe Environment Centre, who hosted the event.

Julie Kingcott, of Community@Art in High Street, had devised a nature and art trail through the woods leading to the site suitable for the planting of saplings.

She also judged artwork made by all the children in the school to celebrate trees and woods, using a variety of media from paint and paper to glitter and fabric.

The winning artwork and a selection of other pictures were for display at Julie Kingcott's studio, Amors, and Sustain. There were 7 overall winners - one from each class, Reception to Year 6 - and 18 runners up.
