Cmdr Ian Riches, RN
Monday, 15th August, 2005
Like their many friends in Wrington, Pat and Ron Riches eagerly scanned the admiring media reports of the success of the British submarine rescue team which saved the lives of 7 Russian submariners trapped 190 metres
below the surface of the Pacific Ocean off the Kamchatka peninsula. Pat and Ron had particular cause for pride, however, since it was their son, Commander Ian Riches, who had led the 6-man team.
Monday, 15th August marked Ian's return to 'just another day's paperwork', as he told BBC Radio Bristol's Nigel Dando in Morning West.
