Wrington acquired a brand new tradition this evening, designed to launch this year's running of the Dickensian Christmas Fayre. Beginning in the Triangle, the minutes' old ritual of "Ringing the Tun" was inaugurated with a procession, shepherded by a very patient policeman, along Broad Street. A pause at the Golden Lion showed just how even-handed the whole thing was, then on round the corner to the village green in front of the Plough. |

At journey's end, the weather, much improved upon last year, meant a good turn-out to patronise the wide variety of stalls, witness the lighting of the tree, and listen to the Salvation Army band, Churchill Junior Gospel Choir, and the Owls of Pill singers ... | ||||||
