Langford History Group is a well-established group founded in 2000 by Jo Fryer, who felt there was so much history in Langford and the surrounding area she decided to do something about it. The result was The Langford History Group which meets on the second Thursday of every month, except in August.
Subjects cover a wide range of topics. Many, but by no means all of the talks are about local history. Other topics cover social and family history, personal recollections of the past and also social events. Refreshments follow the meetings, giving the opportunity for informal discussion with the speaker.
The Group has published two very successful books about Langford: Every House Tells a Story and More Stories from Langford. As well as having been great fun to produce these give valuable historical accounts of many of the houses in the village and the people who have lived in them.
The Group has an enthusiastic membership and we are always looking for new members. Visitors are also very welcome to come to any of our meetings. Membership costs £10 per year, and a charge of £2.50 is made for visitors.
