... only to find there's Fred ...
... and Mabel finds herself smitten ...
... by a lad she sees as a poor, wand'ring one ...
... whilst he fills her in on his sense of duty ...
... but then this quiet rural conversation is interrupted by the arrival of the rude pirate gang ...
... who see this as a golden opportunity for mass connubial bliss ....
... a notion with which the girls find themselves in agreement ...
... most definitely ...
... although Mabel fels constrained to point out that their father is a major-general ...
... a social position he is pleased, on his arrival, to confirm ...
... and which clearly doesn't displease him ...
... indeed he feels he's the very model of a modern major-general
