Much merrymaking ensued, but Dorothy was growing more and more impatient waiting for the wizard to grant their requests, and the lion even took it upon himself to threaten the wizard with serious retribution in the event of non-compliance with his resolution ...
... which, when the wizard duly appeared to express himself not best pleased, proved to have been something of a diplomatic blunder ...
... although, when a door in the wizard's tum was accidentally opened, revealed a much less threatening being - a huckster, no less ...
... which was what probably gave him the basic psychological insight to solve everyone's problems by awarding a medal to the lion to deal with his perceived lack of bravery ...
... a commendation to the tin man as evidence of a caring heart ...
... and a diploma to the scarecrow, as evidence of his brainpower
... and for Dorothy, a ticket on his (as yet untested) atomic rocket, to return her to Kansas ...
... just as soon as he'd passed his crown to rule over Oz to the worthy scarecrow ...
... then, on with the flying helmets, and up, up and away ...
... leaving the cast to take their worthy rounds of applause ...
... and appropriately, among the appreciative audience ... ... a former Wizard of Oz, Dr Norman Tricks |
