What's this video for ....?
He's recording the original Wrington which is fast disappearing
... when I moved here in 1982 it seemed like half-day closing every day it was so quiet
At Christmas time, when all the shops were decorated, we used to, not show goods, but have a pretty window, and Broad Street used to look super.
I'm Chairman of the British Legion, and secretary as well, I'm afraid.

On Remembrance Day, I recite "They shall grow not old .."

Remembrance means an awful lot to people who were in the war, as British Legion members will tell you

When I first came here the secretary was Captain Andrews. He asked me if I'd like to join the Legion branch.
What I like most about living in Wrington was the kindness of the people .. very, very kind people ..

The village could sustain three or four similar shops to this because people are very, very loyal.

The income then was very small, about £140 per week out of which you had to pay your expenses, buy your stock ..

I wouldn't entertain getting into a business like this nowadays ....

... but I still have regrets packing up something after 20 years

We'll be turning the shop back into a living room .. put a bar in that corner ...
We've always been what we are ... we don't put on a front.

He enjoys teasing the children who come in.
People take me as I am, or .. that's just hard luck.
How much are those nice flowers in the window, please ? [Miss Lorna Bathgate - Ed]
