In August, 1987, Organs the Printers

-first turning left in Church Walk going towards the church -

having re-equipped with the latest machines and processes, had enabled themselves to stay as the premier printers to theatres throughout the length and breadth of the UK.

I don't know how we came to specialise in this field, we came into it by chance - 60 years ago my father started the business, in1928 ...

It's work we enjoy, and it doesn't matter that we're located here for theatre work.
Everybody around the country knows we're here, whether they're in Scotland, London, the Midlands...

... of course, we put our imprint on everything ...
...what's absolutely vital is that you have to keep up with changes in technology. We try to do as much here as we can, but we have to go out occasionally but only for very specialised work
Probably a lot of people don't know there's a printer in the village, but people up in Scotland or London in the theatre world know Organs of Wrington.

We employ 8, all local people
We had to cut back a few years ago because we hadn't replaced with new equipment.

We reduced as people left or retired.
We didn't make people redundant.
60 years next April -1988 - so we ought to have a bit of a celebration.

My aunt had the firm until she died in 1983.
