The repairs to the lychgate, begun last month are complete. The lighter portions of the woodwork make it possible to see clearly the extent of the work. It is understood the new oak will not be treated with any stainer, in common with the original. Natural weathering will eventually produce a match. Meanwhile, enthusiasts for this skilled joinery can examine the work in detail. The parochial church council are grateful to the Friends of Wrington Churchyard for their contribution of a significant proportion of the overall cost. |
