Summary report by Sarah Barnes. Full race results at foot of next page. A fantastic 151 participants took part in the annual Wrington Fun Run to celebrate its 25th anniversary. They ran, walked and cycled their way round the winding country lanes to raise money for Wrington Primary School. And the winners of each of the three individual races completed the course in some impressive times. Seventeen year old Chris Halton won the nine mile race in 1 hour 23 seconds; with Richard Stockham finishing first in the six mile event in 37 minutes 52 seconds. The three mile race finished in a dead heat with Paul Lawrence and Tony Rowland, both from Bristol, crossing the line side by side in 21 minutes. There was a cheer for Wrington Primary School pupils, Jodie Fowkes, aged 11 and Patrick Bapty, aged 8, who won the children's race. It was great to continue this annual event and celebrate its 25th anniversary with such a large number of entries and it was nice to see a large crowd turn up to support them. |
