Broad Street Wrington HISTORY
The 2nd Somerset Militia, 1803:
the Hundreds of Brent with Wrington, Bempstone and Winterstoke
by Adrian James Webb © 1999

The 2nd Somerset Militia was completed for service in 1759 and was disembodied on 30 December 1762. A rearrangement of the whole of the Somerset Militia took place in 1763 when the 2nd Somersets were disbanded and it wasn't until the outbreak of the French Revolutionary War in 1793 that they were again called into being1. The return of men transcribed below for the hundreds of Brent with Wrington, Bempstone and Winterstoke is a unique survival2.
